The meals are pretty good all things considered as we live in a rural area w/lots of urban sprawl; hwr, RT's is in a location frequented by businessmen & they need bartenders/barmaids who can actually properly mix a drink, use the right ingredients, & carry the small things for drinks such as plenty of vermouth & gin, brine pearl onions for Gibsons, & even a small collection of vintage wines would help business tremendously! If I wasn't so blind, I'd train a bartender/barmaid to work this area.
I've worked as a barmaid for more yrs than I care to recall & b/c I don't want to 'date' myself. I find it tough enuf to think we've got a grown child who's married, working toward her graduate degree, & has 2 stepsons/our grandsons & it doesn't matter they're not her bio kids. She's a GR8 MOM! We never allowed alcohol to be a mystery for our kids & they know that Mom worked as a barmaid for yrs so that's why I sent many drinks back until they were right, inc'g mixing my own Martini once!
On her 21st BD, her dad/DH drove us & picked us up as our designated driver w/o impeding on our Mom/Daughter dinner. We talked about college, grades, boys, how it felt to be 21 now… She ordered drinks like a pro & remembered how to mix mine; I'd tried teaching her this & tipping over the yrs too. The only downside is RT can't mix a martini worth a damn & refuse to stock ingredients for a Gibson! I've had to SPECIFICALLY ask for gin & vermouth b/c 4 some idiotic reason, they use vodka!
Ruby Tuesdays was a Mom/Daughter special each year on my oldest daughter's birthday; it began when she was around 8yrs old & continued thru her 23rd to 24th BD. Afterward, she had her birthday dinners w/her fiancee'-turn-DH. I miss it terribly b/c it was just the 2 of us. We even celebrated her 21st birthday dinner where she ordered her 1st alcoholic beverage! I was in tears when she said she was glad she got to spend her 21st BD & share a meal where she was legal to drink alcohol w/me. ;'(
